Insigne de béret 1er BFMC Chaumachert. Insigne de béret du 1er Bataillon de Fusiliers Commandos Marin portant le numéro 311 et ayant appartenu au commando Gabriel Chaumachert qui le portait lors de ses opération en Hollande. Fabrication en laiton avec une frappe de grande qualité, dos ne comportant aucun marquage comme il se doit hormis le numéro d’attribution. On y joint le béret vert de fabrication postérieure que portait Gabriel Chaumachert lors de ses cérémonies, plusieurs photos sur internet montrent l’ancien commando portant ce même béret, ainsi qu’un retirage photo. Gabriel Chaumachert est né en 1922 à Magnet dans l’Allier, il s’engage au sein de la France Libre en 1942 sous le matricule 10342FN42, puis est incorporé au 1er BFMC de novembre 1944 jusqu’à novembre 1945. Il participa à la campagne des Pays-Bas et termina au grade de quartier maître de deuxième classe. Après la guerre Chaumachert travailla aux eaux de Vichy ainsi que dans divers stations de sport d’hiver, il décéda en 2004 à Vichy. High-quality struck brass construction with unmarked reverse as expected except for the issued number. Accompanied by the later-production green beret worn by Gabriel Chaumachert during commemorative ceremonies. Several photographs available online depict the former commando wearing this exact beret. Also included is a photographic reprint. Gabriel Chaumachert was born in 1922 at Magnet in the Allier region and joined the Free French Forces in 1942 under service number 10342FN42. He served with the 1st BFMC from November 1944 to November 1945, participating in the Netherlands campaign and ending the war with the rank of Quartermaster Second Class. After the war he worked for the Vichy water authority and later at several winter sports resorts before his death at Vichy in 2004. An iconic badge of the utmost rarity.
